SPRING CREEK — In the second meeting of the season, the outcome was the same.

On Aug. 31, the Spring Creek girls soccer team rolled to a 9-0 victory in Battle Mountain.

Déjà vu.

The Lady Spartans blasted the Lady Longhorns for the second time on Tuesday, in Spring Creek, duplicating the 9-0 victory by the identical score.

In the third minute, Spring Creek climbed to the high side for the remainder of the contest — scoring on a corner kick.

From the flag, the Lady Spartans dribbled the ball short with a pass from senior Isabel Zubiria to senior Jacey Lindquist — who knocked the shot home from the left side of the box.

Spring Creek pushed the gap to 2-0 in the 10th minute as sophomore Addy Smith launched an arching ball over the top of the keeper from an assist by senior Morgan Vannoy.

The Lady Spartans had a goal taken off the board in the 11th minute, as sophomore Katie Morrill scored on a nice cross from senior Alyson Clarke — Spring Creek ruled offside on the play.

But, Spring Creek went up 3-0 a minute later, senior Rhiwan Williams making a steal and scoring on the left wing.

Clarke pushed the margin to 4-0 in the 13th minute with a takeaway in the middle of the field and a line drive that shocked the back of the net.

Morrill also stole a ball on the right side and sent a pass to senior Cecilia Gerber, who nailed a goal from the heart of the pitch for a 5-0 lead in the 16th minute.

Just before halftime, the Lady Spartans scored two goals in a two-minute span.

Sophomore Emma Bear scored after a dime from Zubiria — carrying the ball and tagging a shot — and junior Amaiya Garrett-Martinez crossed a shot from the right side of the field to the left of the frame across the face of the goalie.

At the break, Spring Creek was up by a touchdown and a PAT with the score at 7-0.

In the second half, the Lady Spartans pushed the contest to a mercy-rule margin of 8-0 in the 50th minute — Clarke lining her second goal of the contest from the left side.

In the 59th minute, Spring Creek punctuated the 9-0 win with a goal by senior Nyssa Romo — set up on the left side with a play on the right around the keeper by junior Sophia Hunt.
