LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) - Lake city leaders are moving forward with an ordinance that gives voters a say in how city council members get a pay bump.

Council members voted three to two at their meeting Monday afternoon in favor of putting the issue on the ballot during this year's election.

The referendum will ask voters if the council should propose their own pay raises as a resolution before passing it as an ordinance.

This change only applies to council members and not other city employees.
