Lake County deputy foils alleged burglary attempt at gas station in Beach Park
BEACH PARK, Ill. — An alleged burglary attempt at a gas station in Beach Park was thwarted early Wednesday morning thanks to a vigilant Lake County deputy.
According to officials from the Lake County Sheriff's Office, the deputy was patrolling an area near Sheridan Road and Beach Road at around 1:30 a.m., when he spotted a person who was allegedly attempting to kick in the front glass door of a gas station in the 38500 block of North Sheridan Road.

The deputy was then able to enter the parking lot and apprehend the suspect.
Deputies said the person who was allegedly involved, 19-year-old Anya Latrice Taylor, a Racine Wisconsin, resident, has since been charged with one felony count of attempted burglary, one felony count of criminal damage to property and one misdemeanor count of resisting a peace officer.
"While on routine patrol, Deputy Carlos Marquina demonstrated exceptional vigilance by stopping a burglary in progress at a closed gas station. His quick actions and commitment to duty highlight the professionalism and dedication our deputies bring to keeping Lake County safe," Sheriff John D. Idleburg said.

Following a court appearance, Taylor was released under pre-trial conditions and is set to return to the courtroom on Nov. 19.
Authorities did not provide a booking photo for Taylor.
