Lake Geneva officials have welcomed a new city clerk.

Lacey Reynolds started her new job as Lake Geneva's city clerk Monday, Oct. 7. She was sworn into the position during the Oct. 14 Lake Geneva City Council meeting.

City officials initially introduced Reynolds during the Oct. 7 City Council Personnel Committee and Committee of the Whole meetings.

Members of the Lake Geneva City Council unanimously approved, Sept. 9, to hire Reynolds to the city clerk position. City aldermen discussed the position and Reynolds' hiring during a closed session, Sept. 9.

Reynolds previously worked as Elkhorn's city clerk.

Alderwoman Cindy Yager welcomed Reynolds to the position during the Personnel Committee meeting.

"We're very happy to have you here and we're just looking forward to a smooth transition for you, and we just know we have a lot of stuff to share with you but we'll take our time," Yager told Reynolds.

During the Committee of the Whole meeting, Mayor Todd Krause informed the aldermen to expect a memo from Reynolds during the upcoming weeks to participate in the Lake Geneva Electric Christmas Parade Saturday, Dec. 7.

"Her one sad thing about leaving Elkhorn was the fact their council, mayor, administrator and staff participated in the parade," Krause said. "I assured her that we will do that here in Lake Geneva. So expect a memo soon from Lacey in that regard."

Krause said the city often had a float in the Electric Christmas Parade when he served on the City Council during the early 2000s.

"I was the youngest member of the council, so it was always orchestrated by me," Krause said. "We always had so much fun. We were like the second float in the parade. One year we went through the whole parade route and we had so much fun that I told the driver to get back in and we went around a second time."

Reynolds replaces former City Clerk Lana Kropf.

Lake Geneva officials have been in the process of hiring a new city clerk during the past couple of months.

Deputy Clerk Vanessa Jahns has been fulfilling several duties of the city clerk position during that time.

"Vanessa has been a fabulous asset for us in the meantime, and we're very grateful for a great city staff," Yager said.

The city clerk is responsible for administrating city elections and managing city records, legal notices, licenses, city permits and meeting agendas and minutes, as well as board of review claims.
