Lancaster boxer Bernadin set for bout in Bethlehem tonight

Six years into his professional boxing career James "No Chill" Bernadin (12-2) is once again at the top of the card, and still hasn't been knocked down or out.

On Friday, in a King's Promotions event, he'll be looking to keep his record of never hitting the mat. He's also defending his Pennsylvania championship in the lightweight match against Pittsburgh's Matt "Sweet Child" Conway (22-4).

"We have a very experienced opponent in front of us," Bernadin's coach, Will Torres, of Lancaster City Boxing Academy, said.

"We had a good training camp. James is looking good. He's feeling good," Torres said. "We're very confident."

The eight-round battle is advertised as a co-main event on a card that features pro boxers from Pennsylvania squaring off against opponents from Georgia, Florida, Mexico and Denmark.

Bernadin brings his own multicultural background into the ring.

The 31-year-old fighter has called Lancaster his home for almost two decades, but was born in Haiti. His family relocated to Lancaster permanently in 2010, and Bernadin graduated from McCaskey.

In interviews over the years Bernadin has emphasized that when he steps into the ring he represents both where he was born, and his chosen home.

So his win is a win for both countries.

King's Promotions "Ring Wars 24" will take place at the Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the first fight is at 7 p.m.
