LeRoy Vern Friesen

LeRoy Vern Friesen was born October 5, 1936, to Peter O. and Helen (Bergen) Friesen on a farm south of Aurora, Neb. He had two sisters, Arlene and Kathleen. LeRoy received his primary education at district 27 and 85 in Hamilton County. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1954 and attended Bethel College in North Newton, Kan. for one year.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Allen; sister, Arlene and brother-in-law, Walter Rempel; and sister, Kathleen Unruh.

LeRoy is survived by his wife Marion; son, Mike and JoAnn Friesen of Henderson; daughter, Cynthia and Stan Friesen of Henderson; daughter, Carla and Alan Weldy of Sarasota, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 9:45 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Bethesda Mennonite Cemetery at Henderson, followed by the Memorial service at 10:30 a.m., at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson, with the Reverends Chelsea Vaught and Andrea Wall officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m., on Friday, with family greeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m. that evening, all at Metz Mortuary in Henderson. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorial gifts may be designated to Mennonite Disaster Service Hurricane Relief or Mennonite Central Committee Canner.
