Letter: Council should heed planners' advice
We already have a "bad idea factory" working overtime in our state's legislative body.
But now developers proposing another Lincoln medical office to squish into a corner at the intersection of very bustling South 70th Street and Nebraska Parkway is another bad idea, essentially saying, "We could put an office building back in there and get the city to let us put access next to the intersection by saying the semis don't travel that way now ..."
You've got to be joking! I know about roadway safety. That particular intersection has gotten so busy due to all the development in south and east Lincoln. Getting the major semi traffic moved out of this area was essential and lifesaving.
Please, council members, listen to your traffic, planning and safety professionals. Lincoln motor vehicle travel continues to get worse, accidents abound, and add the annoying trains blocking intersections any hour of the day and then developers wanting ridiculous access points off of busy arterials and near intersections that are already fraught with impatient motorists. We don't want or deserve any more traffic safety impediments in Lincoln or Lancaster County.
