Letter: Rest of the country could learn from Maine
My husband and I have lived in Maine for almost exactly 50 years in an old farm house in the wonderful small town of Penobscot. I give thanks every day that we ended up here — there are just so many things to love about "here," and one of the best is living in Penobscot.
In these election year times of turmoil and strife, I have absolute faith that on Nov. 5, our votes will be counted correctly, recorded properly and documented legally. At the fire station on election day there will be no violent outbreaks and although there will be differences of opinion and concerns about the outcome, all will be calm. Our town workers and clerks will be shown respect and thanked for doing the job. The process will be shown respect.
The rest of the country could learn something from small towns in Maine.
If only.
