Dear editor,

Thank you for your recent about the UW student who ran into a deer on Highway 287 and was left without a working vehicle and no cellphone service.

As the Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Wyoming, I greatly appreciate your good tips for what to do in that situation, and how to be prepared.

The American Red Cross is all about preparedness! The citizens of Wyoming are welcome to check out our website on preparation for emergencies.

We will also help educate your business, club or faith-based organization with our "Be Red Cross Ready" class. This training will address emergencies common to your area and give tips on being prepared to evacuate or to be restricted to your home.

It also covers being ready in your home or on the road by creating a "Go Bag." If desired, we can also teach Hands-Only CPR as part of the class.

The Vision of the American Red Cross includes making sure that "our communities are ready and prepared for disasters."

Please reach out to make sure that you, your friends and family are prepared.

Janet Lewis | Executive Director

American Red Cross of Wyoming
