LI Pizza Owner Returns 'Where I Learned Everything' Parisi's Pizza and Pasta opened its second location in Massapequa Park.MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY — Paul Parisi is living out his childhood dream as a pizzeria owner, where it all started for him years ago.
The Massapequa Park resident opened his second pizzeria this summer in his hometown.
"We just changed the name over, " Parisi told Patch. "It's been going well."
For Parisi, it's a homecoming of sorts, as he worked at the Carmans Road location for eight years when it was Marino's, starting in the business as a busboy when he was 15.
"This is where I learned everything," he said.
Along the way, he handled various roles, including as a waiter and at the counter. Ultimately, Parisi landed a management position, which further planted the seed for his future.
Parisi parlayed that experience when he launched the first Parisi's Pizza and Pasta in Amityville three years ago.
"I wanted to come back where it all started and try to give the same product and the same service that we're giving in Amityville," Parisi said. "I see so many people that I saw when I was here."
That means a lot of choices. On any given day, customers will find at least two dozen different types of slices on display.
"We have plans to add even more," he said. "As much as the counter space will allow us."
You'll see some traditional favorites like Buffalo Chicken, Grandma and Margherita, and less familiar creations, such as: Shrimp Pesto and Chicken Parm with Mozzarella Sticks.
"We like innovation," Parisi said. "We do a Special of the Day. If that did really well, it would be a new addition to the counter."
The twentysomething businessman gravitated to all aspects of running a pizzeria.
"I like dealing with customers and, obviously, food," Parisi joked. "I can never have enough pizza."
Parisi hopes to expand his pizzeria brand with a third location down the road. But for now, he's busy basking in his return home.
"It's a nice full-circle moment," he said.
