Liberty Dogs will bring a top-tier service dog facility for veterans in our community

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A new training facility connecting service dogs with veterans is coming to Reno. Liberty Dogs is a 27-acre campus in Damonte Ranch.

Once completed, the facility will offer an immersive two-week program pairing veterans in the community and around the country with a new four-legged best friend free of charge. The campus includes temporary housing for veterans, a recreation center, a kitchen, training facilities, kennels, and onsite veterinary care.

Kyle Cory-Yaeggi, CEO of Liberty Dogs Foundation, says the organization will train the service dogs to focus on two categories.

"There is the psychiatric mobility or PTSD and the physical mobility," said Cory-Yaeggi. "Liberty Dogs will cross-train the puppies to be more dynamic service dogs for our veterans."

The campus and program are a vision-turned-reality for the Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation, which have made this project possible fully funding the project including its construction. The campus is expected to be completed by early 2026.
