Lillian V. Sosick, 83, of Seminary Road, Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at Mercy
Health Care Center, Nanticoke.
Born Jan. 13, 1917, in Hanover Township, she was a daughter of the late
Joseph and Elizabeth (Bogdon) Chesna. She attended Hanover Township schools
and worked at the Newark Silk Mill, Wilkes-Barre, and the American Silk Mill,
Plains Township. She was a member of St. Casimir’s Church, Lyndwood, Hanover
Township, and a volunteer at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical
Center, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; brothers, Herman,
Raymond, Joseph and Albert Chesna; sisters, Alberta Sheridan, Francie Ondish
and Della (Borucki) Vivian.
Surviving are her daughters, Shirley Niznik, Breslau, Hanover Township; and
Joanne Swantkowski, Hanover Township; four grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; sister, Josephine Schmidt, White Haven; and one nephew.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral
Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.
at St. Casimir’s Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Muhlenburg.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A Prayer Service will
be held Wednesday at the funeral home.
