Lincolnton man dies in crash after colliding with a tree: SHP
(QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 31-year-old man has died following a crash in Lincoln County, according to NC State Highway Patrol.
Officials were called around 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday to Salem Church Road near Salem Avenue, where they say the driver of a 2012 Hyundai Sonata lost control and drove off the right side of the road.
The driver then re-entered the roadway, drove off the left side of the road, struck a dense and then collided with a tree.
The driver, Dominique Devon Morrison of Lincolnton, died at the scene. Officials say he was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from his vehicle.
The initial investigation indicated excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
During the on-scene investigation, Salem Church Road was closed in the area for approximately two hours.
