Oct. 17—NorthWood Trap Team benefiting from community breakfast

NAPPANEE — The NorthWood High School Trap Team is hosting a pancake and sausage breakfast fundraiser at the Nappanee Conservation Club, 13960 N. Gravelton Road, from 7-10 a.m. Saturday.

LaGrange redevelopment to discuss grant funding

LAGRANGE — The LaGrange Redevelopment Commission will be meeting prior to its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the LaGrange Town Hall, 1201 N. Townline Rd. This is in regards to the Stellar Grant Application and funding

KYLA Students Engage with Community Leaders on Social Services

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — The Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy (KYLA) class of 2024 — 25 recently gathered for their second session of the year, focusing on social services within Kosciusko County. This session provided the students with an invaluable opportunity to hear from multiple community leaders who are at the forefront of social service initiatives in the region.

During the session, each speaker shared detailed insights about their respective non-profit organizations, highlighting the critical services they provide to the community. The students learned about various ways they can contribute, particularly through volunteering their time and skills to support these essential services.

The speakers emphasized the importance of youth involvement in social services, encouraging the students to become proactive members of their community. By engaging with these leaders, the students gained a deeper understanding of the social challenges faced by the county and the impactful work being done to address them.

KYLA continues to foster a supportive environment where high school juniors can develop leadership skills and become informed, proactive community leaders. The academy's monthly sessions cover a wide range of community sectors, including government, healthcare, agriculture, and service organizations, providing a comprehensive leadership education.

Commissioners to discuss ARPA funds, zoning changes

GOSHEN — The Elkhart County Board of Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Monday for a regularly scheduled meeting at the Elkhart County Administration Building, 117 N. Second St., Goshen.

The agenda includes opening bids for a paving project, several appropriations including some for the Foraker-Southwest-Tecumseh Project, the Elkhart County Courthouse Complex construction project, and Elkhart County Parks Department bathroom remodelings. The agenda also includes zone map changes on C.R. 108 in Cleveland Township, C.R. 40 in Elkhart Township, C.R. 17 in Jackson Township, C.R. 10 in Cleveland Township, and Old U.S. 20 in Cleveland Township.
