Athletic trainer joins Goshen Orthopedics

GOSHEN — Robin Berghoff has joined Goshen Orthopedics as an athletic trainer. She provides preventive care, diagnosis and rehabilitation services for student-athletes at Concord High School in Elkhart.

"Our athletic trainers, like Robin, are dedicated to helping student-athletes prevent injuries, stay healthy and keep active," said Dr. Christopher Owens, orthopedic surgeon and medical director at Goshen Orthopedics. "Parents, coaches and students in our community also value the importance of having qualified trainers by the sidelines to evaluate injuries and provide immediate care."

Berghoff is trained in ImPACT concussion testing and evaluation. She also is trained in the Graston technique to eliminate pain and restore range of motion following soft tissue injuries. Her training in functional range conditioning also helps athletes regain mobility through rehabilitation and exercise.

"The athletic trainer is perhaps the biggest unsung hero in any athletic department. Knowing we have a highly trained, well-qualified medical professional available to help treat and prevent injuries is extremely comforting to us as a school and should be even more so to our athletes and parents," said Dave Preheim, Concord athletic director. "We are grateful for our partnership with Goshen Orthopedics and are extremely excited to have Robin in our building. She has quickly earned the respect and trust of our coaches and athletes."

Berghoff received a Master of Athletic Training from Manchester University in Fort Wayne. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science & Fitness and Neuroscience from the same university in North Manchester.

Goshen Orthopedics athletic trainers serve student-athlete programs at Concord High School, Fairfield Junior/Senior High School, Goshen College, Goshen High School, Goshen Junior High School and Northridge High School. They work closely with the team physicians at Goshen Orthopedics to coordinate patient care plans and rehabilitation therapies.
