Local chicken wing chain ups menu offerings plus a limited time only hot and blue item
Detroit Wing Co. (DWC), a chain of chicken wing spots, has expanded its menu with lighter fare options and added a colorful, limited-time item offered just for football season.
The Eastpointe-based and founded DWC is adding wraps, salads, new sandwiches, and side options to its lineup of signature chicken wings, tenders, and sandwich offerings.
This is the first major expansion of DWC's menu and in response to "growing demand for lighter meal options," according to a news release.
DWC also rolled out a new and limited-time chicken tender that is sure to grab attention.

DWC's new "Blue Heat Taki Tenders" served with ranch and fries, feature the chain's signature hand-battered tenders coated in crushed Blue Heat Takis. While DWC didn't specifically give the limited-time offered tenders a nod to the Detroit Lions, the color leans to Honolulu blue.
If you're unfamiliar, Takis are rolled corn tortilla chips in a variety of flavors from sweet chili to nacho to ranch flavored.
The Takis Blue Heat is one the brand's spicy varieties of the rolled chip and is described on the company's website like "a fireball for your mouth. A furnace for your taste buds. A sun flare for your face."
A look at the menu
Here are the items offered now available at all 29 DWC locations across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Florida. Wraps and sandwiches are $9.99 and salads are $11.99.
Wraps: Chicken Bacon Ranch, Buffalo Chicken Caesar, Spicy Chicken and Honey BBQ Chicken.Sandwiches: Classic Crispy Chicken, Crispy Chicken BLT, Nashville Hot and Honey BBQ.Salads: Greek Chicken Salad, Honey BBQ Chicken Salad and Buffalo Chicken Chopped Wedge.Sides: Nashville Hot Cheese Fries, Garlic Parmesan Fries and Funnel Cake Fries.
DWC also updated its classic and boneless wing portion sizes. You can now order wings in sizes ranging from 5, 10, 20, 30, 50 and 100 wings. Its hand-battered tenders are in servings of two, four or six.
Shuttered locations reopen
Two of the three DWC franchise stores that abruptly shuttered in April are now reopened. DWC stores in Davison and Grand Blanc have reopened under new ownership and management, the company said.
Initially, DWC projected two reopen those locations within weeks of their closure. Instead, DWC decided to remodel both locations, adding refreshed interiors and new kitchen equipment to support the planned menu expansion, according to a news release.
To celebrate the reopening of both locations, a grand opening is set for Sept. 28. For the relaunch, there will be promotions and giveaways including the first 25 customers at each location will be entered to win free wings for a year. Also to mark the relaunch, DWC entire menu at both locations will be 50% for the grand opening.
"We appreciate the strong connection the Davison and Grand Blanc communities had with the previous team and truly value their patience as we worked through this process," Gus Malliaras, DWC founder said in a statement. "We're committed to maintaining that same level of service while bringing new enhancements to elevate the overall guest experience."
Malliaras founded DWC in 2015 and grew the business to company-owned and franchised locations in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Florida. DWC is known for its chicken wings offered with a wide variety of signature sauces.
