Local fireworks stand supports Joplin Humane Society

WEBB CITY, Mo. — Your Fourth of July festivities could help a local animal shelter.

A portion of sales from this fireworks stand in Webb City will benefit the Joplin Humane Society.

The stand also offers "pet-friendly" fireworks, that won't produce the loud noises that often cause more stress for animals.

Humane Society staff say they often see an increase in intakes this time of year, leading to the need for extra funds.

"Whether it's they escaped the house because they're scared, or people are taking them to fireworks shows and they get loose because they're scared or anything like that, dogs are really really commonly found as strays right after the 4th of July," said Rebekah Sweyko, volunteer, Joplin Humane Society.

The stand is located at 923 West 4th Street in Webb City.

It'll be open through the Fourth of July.
