MATTOON - Lois E. Love age 85 of Mattoon, IL passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

A funeral service in her honor will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Reverend Al Groner will officiate. A committal service will immediately follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston, IL. The visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the funeral home.

Lois was born on January 1, 1939, in Geneva, IL to the late Roy C. and Kathryn M. (Veronda) Stillions. She married James "Jim" Richard Love on June 12, 1958, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cooks Mills, IL; he survives and resides in Mattoon, IL. She is also survived by four children: Lynn E. Shaffer, David R. Love and wife Debbie, Susan A. Love, Michael S. Love and wife Barb, all of Mattoon, IL; Seven grandchildren: Josh Shaffer of Palos Hills, IL, Jennifer Lawson and husband Matthew of Pace, FL, Shawn Love and wife Jacki of Sellersburg, IN, Kyle Veach and wife Heather of Mattoon, IL, Katy Holtfreter and husband Brandon of Decatur, IL, Emily Voltenburg and husband Nick of Mattoon, IL, Hillary Love of Mattoon, IL; 12 great-grandchildren: Adriana, Beckett, Noah, Ben, Parks, Jonah, Bryant, Julian, Slate, Decker, Pryor, and baby Voltenburg on the way; her grand dogs, Maisie and Lola; and her beloved Tinley who preceded her in death.

Lois was a graduate of St. Charles High School in St. Charles, IL and attended Eastern Illinois University where she met her loving husband, Jim. She retired from the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce as their Executive Administrative Assistant. Lois and her husband, Jim owned Love's Flower Farm from 1973 to 1984.

A faithful member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL Lois was active in many church ministries. She served in Woman on Missions, as a Sunday school teacher, in Children's Church, Vacation Bible School and was the church secretary periodically for many years. She was an active member of the community and served as a PTA officer, volunteered in schools, and held memberships at the Coles County Extension and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Being a grandmother, affectionately known as Maam, was the light of her life. She beamed with joy at the mention of each grandchild's name and was delighted to spend time with them. They truly were the apple of her eye.

Lois was a woman of deep faith and convictions who lived what she believed. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed.
