LSMGL York U-Pik Scramble yields low scores

B.Lee26 min ago

Ominous clouds early on yielded to great temperatures for the 118 Lincoln Senior Men's Golf League golfers as they tackled the York Country Club on Monday.

The tight, tree-lined course is a favorite road trip for the league and presents a challenge to have accurate drives and proper navigation. Teeing off from the gold tees made some holes easier, but the Scramble event still produced some of the familiar suspects in the end.

Two pin prizes were awarded on holes 2 and 9. The closest second shot to the pin on hole 2 went to Terry Blackburn, while the longest putt on No. 9 was recorded by Tom Meyer.

The next stop for the LSMGL is another road trip Monday, Sept. 23 at Beatrice Country Club.

Flight A: First place, score 55-John Eshleman, Dave Thomas, John Tritt and Dan Hendrickson; second place, score 58-Pat Kappes, Bill Rocke, Brian Bauerly and Tom Meyer; third place, score 60-Verlyn Eden, Pat Swift, Steve Ferris and Tom Rauner.

Flight B: First place, score 58-Jerry Petersen, Doug Wismer and Terry Blackburn; second place, score 65-Mark Norvell, Jay Bellar, Bob Schultz and Jerry Genrich; third place, score 66-Detlef Gartzke, Mark Pankoke, Tom Day and Rick Stetina.
