LSU Shreveport to host Filipino-American History symposium

SHREVEPORT, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) – October is National Filipino Heritage Month. LSU Shreveport is collaborating with the Filipino American Association of the ArkLaTex to hold an educational symposium on Friday, October 18th.

The event's theme this year is Struggle, Resistance, Solidarity, and Resilience.

Guest speakers include Randy Gonzalez, the University of Louisiana and Lafayette Associate Director of English; Jezzamine Wolk, Fox 33 anchor; Dr. John Mangaong, a Shreveport Physical Therapist; and Junice Allison, an educator at Shreve Island Elementary School.

The culture's history and legacy will be discussed through a collection of stories.

It will be hosted at the school's library at One University Place in Shreveport from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. Drinks and light refreshments will be provided.
