'Lunatic' woman hits back at Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy over wild assault claim on Nantucket Island

A woman has hit back at Dave Portnoy after the Barstool Sports founder claimed she 'assaulted him' in Nantucket.

Portnoy, 47, wrote a blog on Tuesday where he claimed he was 'attacked' by a little-known comedienne named Sue Costello as he was waiting for his food at Millie's in the wealthy enclave off Cape Cod.

Costello, however, has denied she ever assaulted Portnoy, and claims there are witnesses who can back her story.

Portnoy said Costello approached him as if 'she had been waiting all her life for this confrontation,' but that he 'had not clue who she was.'

Costello reportedly told Portnoy: 'You tweeted about me 4 years ago. You called me an a***ole. I was tormented by men for 4 days straight afterwards. You made my life hell.'

Portnoy then asked Costello if she did something to provoke him before he mentioned her on X, previously known as Twitter .

'In my experience people generally get what they deserve when I interact with them,' Portnoy replied, according to his blog.

Costello allegedly said that all she did was make a 'rice and beans joke' after Portnoy appeared on Tucker Carlson's now-defunct Fox News show IN 2020.

Portnoy said his order was then called, and he walked around the woman to pick it up, lightly brushing arms, which supposedly prompted Costello to scream: 'DON'T YOU F***ING TOUCH ME!!!'

The businessman wrote: 'I looked directly at her as I was walking out and was like "lady you are a lunatic" and left.'

Costello, meanwhile, has responded to Portnoy's blog on her social media.

She wrote to Portnoy: 'don't be a baby and thanks for the press and dragging me out of obscurity. The boys love that I calmly told u to stop being a sexist a***ole.'

In other posts, Costello accused Portnoy of lying about their encounter.

She said: 'Get Portnoy to produce a witness- he can't cause he's lying.

'I had three ppl with me- his stupid blog is all lies & sounds like a teenage girl can't handle that I don't like him. I gave him the chance to have some dignity today but of course he only has lies.'

Portnoy said he went home to investigate who the woman was, and found that she has written to him on social media hundreds of times over the years.

He then explained: 'Now back to why I called her an a***ole in the 1st place four years ago. Back during Covid she tweeted at me insinuating that the Barstool Fund was a "dumb publicity stunt."

'Umm not exactly just a Rice and Beans joke like she said it was that caused me to call her an a***ole 4 years ago.

'Either way how crazy is this lady?'

Portnoy shared the post in question, from December, 2020, when Costello wrote: 'Yo saw u on Tucker Carlson! chicken and rice aint gonna cut it. U need to organize the restaurants if u really want to help- otherwise its just dumb publicity stunt which u are also know for. Which one is it?????'

At the time, Portnoy replied: 'He a***ole, I talked to Frank Borrelli who's (sic) decades old restaurant is in danger of going out of business and this is the exact solution his dad wanted. So I suggest you go f*** yourself.'

Costello did admit that she had been waiting years to confront the Barstool Sports founder.

She wrote: 'I always said "if I ever meet Dave Portnoy/ Smedium I will walk right up to him & calmly tell him how much his abusive behavior affected me.

'God gave me that opportunity on Nantucket.'

According to her website, Costello has appeared on shows like NYPD Blue and made it to the finals of NBC's Last Comic Standing.

She starred in her own show on Fox for one season, in 1998, titled Costello.
