PENSACOLA, FL — A single $20 scratch-off ticket in Florida was worth $10 million, lottery officials said Monday.

The lucky ticket was a Gold Rush Legacy scratch-off sold at Cumberland Farms in the 1600 block of Perdido Key Drive, according to the Florida Lottery.

The massive prize was won by a 47-year-old Alabama woman who chose a one-time, lump-sum payment of $6,030,000, lottery officials said. She claimed her winnings at the Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.

Cumberland Farms received a $20,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket, lottery officials said.

Gold Rush was introduced in April and is comprised of four top prizes of $10 million, 20 prizes of $1 million and more than $894 million in total cash prizes. The overall odds of winning the Gold Rush are 1 in 2.97.

Ticket purchasers should sign their tickets as soon as they buy them, per lottery officials.

In Florida, the state lottery must withhold 24 percent federal taxes on prizes more than $5,000 for U.S. citizens with a social security number.

For U.S. citizens without a social security number, the state lottery must withhold 30 percent of taxes on prizes more than $600.
