Mailman accused of stabbing lawncare worker in Lithia released from jail
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The mailman accused of stabbing a lawncare worker last month was released from jail, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Mark Calloway, 60, of Lithia was released on Nov. 6, on his own recognizance, HCSO said.
On Oct. 22 at 1 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a stabbing in Lithia. When deputies arrived at the scene they found the victim, Jacob Whitaker, 29, unresponsive in the roadway with stab wounds to his upper torso, according to HCSO.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue pronounced Whitaker dead at the scene.
During the investigation, detectives said that the two had gotten into an altercation that became physical, ending in Calloway stabbing Whitaker several times.
On Nov. 1, Calloway was arrested in connection to the fatal stabbing and was charged with second-degree murder with a weapon, according to HCSO.
