Main roads closed after crash at junction

A main road in Leicester has been closed by police after a crash.

Leicestershire Police said Melton Road was shut at 04:30 BST on Monday after the crash at its junction with Checketts Road.

Images from the scene show two damaged cars including one that had flipped onto its side.

The force has been contacted for comment.

Gipsy Lane and Checketts Road have also been closed as police accident investigators carry out their work.

The force urged motorists to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
