Mamta Kafle Bhatt's Husband Denied Bail Again After 'Horrifying' New Testimony Naresh Bhatt's attorneys previously filed a motion for him to be released, claiming Manassas Park police lied during the investigation.

MANASSAS PARK, VA — The husband of missing Manassas Park mom Mamta Kafle Bhatt was denied bail again Friday after a judge heard "horrific" new testimony from prosecutors about his actions days after Kafle Bhatt was last seen.

During a Friday hearing, Senior Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Sarah Sami laid out a new timeline of events involving Naresh Bhatt, who was arrested three weeks after his wife disappeared and charged with concealing a dead body, according to an InsideNoVA report .

Kafle Bhatt, 28, a registered nurse, was last seen at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center on July 27. Her friend, Nadia Navarro, heard from her on July 28. Police did a welfare check on Aug. 2, but Bhatt declined to report his wife as missing.

  • Bhatt reported her as a missing person on Aug. 5 and claimed to have last seen her on July 31.

Bhatt's attorneys had previously filed a motion for Bhatt to be released on bond, claiming Manassas Park police mishandled the original search of the home he shared with Kafle Bhatt and made false statements to obtain the arrest warrant against him.

However, during Friday's hearing, Sami provided several new details involving Bhatt's movements in the days following Kafle Bhatt's disappearance, including that Manassas Park police have now executed over 25 search warrants in the case, InsideNoVA reported.

Starting the morning of July 30, Bhatt was captured on camera dropping several trash bags into various dumpsters, the report said. On July 30, he also Google searched for "diagram of brain" and "chicken farm near me."

A day later, Bhatt was captured on camera in Falls Church taking bags from his Tesla and putting them into a trash compactor. He also disposed of more items in a dumpster at a babysitter's apartment complex, the report said.

Following the hearing, Holly Wirth, a former coworker and advocate for Mamta Bhatt, praised the judge's ruling not to release Bhatt, she told InsideNoVA.

"I think I stood at this mic once before and said that what we heard was shocking and horrific – what we heard today was more shocking and horrific," Wirth said. "I don't think any of us understood the weight of the crime."

With continued, "We all wanted to know where Mamta was, when are we going to get her back, where are we going to find her ... and the truth is, we're not going to get her back, because he disposed of her in a way that put her in a landfill."

Bhatt is set to stand trial beginning Dec. 9.

Kafle Bhatt is presumed dead, police said, and authorities have since searched for her remains at several locations.

Police said they have continued to receive tips regarding the case and are seeking people with information who have not been interviewed or contacted by detectives already. Manassas Park police can be reached by phone at 703-361-1136.
