Man Arrested In Tinley Park Standoff Remains In Sheriff's Custody Jason Soltis, 54, was arrested Nov. 1, and charged Nov. 2. He appeared in Cook County court earlier this week.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A 54-year-old man charged after a nearly day-long standoff with police last week in Tinley Park remains in the sheriff's custody, the department confirmed.

Jason Soltis was charged with aggravated kidnapping with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm after he barricaded himself with two others inside his Tinley Park home for nearly 17 hours on Halloween , Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said Sunday.

Soltis appeared before a judge at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse earlier this week, where he was ordered detained until his next court date, court records show.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, the Sheriff's Police Hostage and Barricade Team, Sheriff's police negotiators and the South Suburban Emergency Response Team responded to a residence in the 17900 block of South Harlem Avenue. Upon arrival, officers learned that Soltis was armed with a firearm and had barricaded himself with two people inside his home, police said.

At approximately 3:38 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, officers gained entry after hearing a single gunshot fired from inside the home, according to the sheriff's office. Soltis was taken into custody without incident.

Officers found two female victims, one who appeared unharmed and another who was bound at the ankles and wrists, Dart's office said. Both were taken to a local hospital for medical evaluations. No injuries resulted from the gunfire, police said.

Soltis initially appeared on Nov. 3, followed by another appearance on Nov. 7, He was remanded to the custody of the sheriff's office at that time.

His preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 22.
