Man gets 10 years in prison
A compliance visit in early June resulted in a 46-year-old parolee and his girlfriend both being arrested.
James Ottenberg and 41-year-old Jessie Dominique Moore were both charged. Ottenberg appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday and pled guilty to his charges in two new cases and revocations in two cases filed last year.
He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Moore has a final appearance before her trial scheduled for November 13.
Officers from the Division of Community Correction and the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force initially went to Ottenberg’s listed address, but were told he had moved in with Moore, identified as his girlfriend, about three weeks before the compliance visit was conducted.
When they arrived at Moore’s residence along State Highway 201 South, they found Ottenberg, Moore, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
According to the probable cause affidavits on both Ottenberg and Moore, many of the drugs were packaged in a way that indicated they were to be sold.
Officers found pills located in a safe in the bedroom shared by Ottenberg and Moore, including alprazolam, methadone and tramadol.
Multiple plastic containers holding marijuana were also found in the house.
The paraphernalia included syringes, a set of digital scales and spoons showing signs that pills had been dissolved in them so the liquid could be injected. Mirrors were also found that were suspected of being used to process methamphetamine.
The charges against both Ottenberg and Moore included several counts of possessing drugs of various kinds intended for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia intended to process the drugs.
The recently filed drug charges will be the 11th criminal case opened on Ottenberg since 1996. Court records show that Moore has had five cases opened on her.
Most of Ottenberg’s cases have been drug related. He was 18 when the first charges were filed against him.
Cases were opened on him in 1996, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2022, 2023. In some years multiple cases were set up. Some charges filed against him in a 2002 case were dismissed.
