DURYEA – State troopers and municipal police officers from several
departments responded to a home on Chittenden Street late Sunday after a man
allegedly fired several shots.

At least a dozen police officers, some carrying pump shotguns, blocked off
the street and surrounded the house.
Police said they arrested Kevin Hall at 64 Chittenden St. after being
called to the home on reports of shots fired.

Officer Edward Lukowich said Hall, 27, will be charged with reckless
endangerment, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.

Lukowich said he approached the house and Hall, who knows Lukowich, agreed
to speak with him. The officer said he had the man open the door so that he
could see Hall had no weapons.

Lukowich, who is the police chief in Avoca, said there had been a dispute
earlier Sunday between Hall, his sister and her boyfriend.

Hall screamed for air as he was placed in a police cruiser and taken to
Duryea Police Headquarters.

“I can’t breathe,” he said. “I’m not going to do anything. I swear to
God.”

Police from Duryea, Pittston, Hughestown and the Pennsylvania State Police
responded.

During the brief incident, which ended just before 11 p.m., neighbors
gathered on their front porches while ignoring police warnings to stay inside.

“I don’t think the kid lives there,” one female neighbor said.

The resident said it’s a quiet neighborhood and she was shocked at the
thought of possible violence.

“I didn’t hear anything,” she said.

Duryea patrol Officer Nick Lohman said no gun was found in the residence,
but he declined to release any further information.

Lohman said he and Lukowich are handling the investigation.
