Man killed in Box Elder apartment stabbing

BOX ELDER, S.D. (KOTA) - The Pennington County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday afternoon in Box Elder.

In a release, the Pennington County Sheriff's Office says they responded to a report of a stabbing at around 2 p.m. Sunday, in the 600 block of Northern Lights Boulevard in Box Elder.

The victim, William Medicine Eagle, 21, of Rapid City, was transported to the hospital where he later died from his wounds. His alleged killer, Joseph Poor Thunder Jr., 28, was taken to the Pennington County Jail and now faces charges of aggravated assault domestic and murder in the first degree.
