Man killed, woman critically injured in Hueytown head-on crash

One person was killed and another critically injured in a head-on crash in Hueytown.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the fatality victim as Neil Damian Sayers. He was 25 and lived in Hueytown.

The wreck happened at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Brooklane Drive between a pickup truck and a sedan.

Sayers, the driver of the pickup, was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:31 p.m.

A 66-year-old woman driving the second vehicle - a Mercedes sedan - was critically injured and taken to UAB Hospital.

Police said Sayers crossed over into oncoming traffic and hit the Mercedes head on.

The crash remains under investigation by Hueytown police and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
