SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) - A 31-year-old East Cleveland man pleaded guilty to shooting a BP/711 gas station employee in February.

William McLendon, 31, pleaded guilty to felonious assault for the shooting at the gas station in the 20400 block of Chagrin Blvd. in Shaker Heights around 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 20.

Shaker Heights police said the 34-year-old employee was arguing with McLendon, who was a customer, when McClendon pulled out a gun and shot him.

Police said after the shooting, McLendon fled the area in a light-colored truck.

According to Shaker Heights Police Commander John Cole, McLendon surrendered to police that evening.

The employee was rushed to a local hospital where he had emergency surgery, said police. His name is not being released.
