Man shot, killed in Independence Twin Peaks parking lot Saturday night

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating after a man was found shot and killed in the parking lot of an Independence, Missouri restaurant Saturday night.

According to the Independence Police Department (IPD), at about 11 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Twin Peaks Restaurant located along East Jackson Drive — less than a half-mile from Little Blue Parkway — on reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a man in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

According to IPD, a person of interest was taken into custody on the scene. Police said there was no danger to the public.

The IPD Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating the case.
