Manhunt after Texas police chief shot multiple times
MEMPHIS, Texas - A statewide manhunt is underway for a man who is wanted for shooting a police officer late Thursday night.
A Texas Blue Alert was issued for Seth Altman, 33, who allegedly shot Memphis Police Chief Rex Plant.
Plant and another officer went to arrest Altman for attempted burglary around 11 p.m. Thursday night. The officer went to the front door while Plant went to the back. Altman then came out, pulled a gun, and shot Plant multiple times.
Plant was flown to a hospital in Lubbock and is in stable condition. He was hired by the City of Memphis last year.
Altman is 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighs about 220 pounds, and has red hair and blue eyes.He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt with blue jeans.
Altman is considered to be armed and dangerous. If you see him, call 911. Do not approach him.
A Blue Alert is issued for suspects accused of killing or seriously injuring a law enforcement officer. If you see Altman, call 911 immediately, or call the Hall County Sheriff's Office at (806) 259-2636.
