Martha Stewart is hailed as the 'original influencer' in her new Netflix documentary. And she has lived up to the title once again as viewers are lapping up the pearls of wisdom which garnish the deep-dive documentary. The RJ Cutler film covers Martha's colourful life and career from her troubled childhood to her years on Wall Street through to her billion-dollar brand and her infamous incarceration. And after 40 plus years of offering up advice on how to fold napkins to cooking Christmas dinner for 12, the ultimate lifestyle guru is now influencing a new generation with her 'savage' soundbites . Martha on men The 83-year-old admits in the film that she has had difficulty maintaining many relationships with men and muses at one point that it is because she refuses to talk about feelings. 'It doesn't interest me so much to know 'Oh Charles, how do you feel this second?'' she declares. 'I don't care actually. I do care about 'Charles what are you doing, what are you thinking about?'' Martha in the kitchen Friends and colleagues in the documentary admit working for Martha is not for the faint-hearted. And one clip shows a hapless assistant being told off for using the wrong knife to slice an orange with perfectionist Martha snapping: 'You need a big knife, pay attention. Why would you use a little knife to cut a big orange.' Martha on affairs One of the most startling revelations is Martha's reveal that she strayed during her 29-year marriage , including a passionate liason on her honeymoon. She recalls kissing a 'very handsome guy' in Florence's Duomo di Milanowhile Andy was back at their hotel, admitting 'he didn't know I was married. I was this waif of a girl hanging out in the cathedral on Easter Eve.' 'He was emotional. I was emotional. It's just because it was an emotional place. It was unlike anything I'd ever experienced.' But she shows no ounce of regret, instead insisting that 'I wish we could all experience such an evening'. 'I had a very brief affair with a very attractive Irish man,' Stewart says. 'It was nothing. I would never have broken up a marriage for it.' Martha on marriage Early scenes in the doc show Martha visibly raging as she recalls her ex husband Andy Stewart's affairs, telling viewers: 'Young women, listen to my advice, if you're married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he's a piece of s**t. Get out of that marriage.' The producer then quips: 'Didn't you have an affair early on?' to which Martha replies, 'Yeah, but I don't think Andy ever knew about that.' 'She didn't flinch. Gave me chills,' hailed one fan, whilst another called her 'a savage.' 'Martha Stewart did some girl math in her documentary!' agreed one more as another admitted that 'finding out Martha Stewart cheated not once but twice got me cackling in my living room.' Martha on sex The housewife's icon is candid about sex and isn't afraid to tell her partner, and the world, what she relishes in the bedroom. 'My husband was very aggressive in bed. I liked it,' she declares in one memorable scene. Martha on getting over a break-up The star is not one to dwell, revealing that after her husband left her 'some people revel in this self-pity, etc., etc. I just don't.' Martha's life mottos Martha has stuck firmly to two rules of life, declaring: 'I have two mottos. One is learn something new every day, and the second one is when you're through changing, you're through.' Martha on the justice system The middle third of the documentary focuses on Martha's conviction for lying to the FBI in 2004. It seeks to convince viewers that her five month imprisonment was unjust and that she was unfairly targeted by the likes of lead prosecutor James Comey. Martha pleads her innocence throughout and and hits back at Comey and co, insisting: 'Those prosecutors should have been put in a Cuisinart turned on high.' Martha on the secret to happiness 'If you want to be happy for a year, get married,' she says. 'If you want to be happy for a decade, get a dog. And if you want to be happy for the rest of your life, make a garden.'
