Maxine Aerts
March 23, 1921 - November 1, 2024
Maxine Marie (Kosch) Aerts was born on March 23, 1921, in Shelby, Nebraska to Alois and Regina (Messing) Kosch and was taken into God's arms on November 1, 2024, at the age of 103.
Maxine attended school in Shelby. She traveled with friends and worked in nursing at the Orthopaedic Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Ted Aerts on October 8, 1947, and 10 children were born to this union. They made their home in Butler County where they were engaged in farming. After they retired, they moved to David City.
Maxine was a homemaker, and she enjoyed sewing and embroidery. She loved being with her family. Maxine always said her favorite room in her home was the front porch and her favorite people were babies. Her love for children was evident by all those she cared for.
Maxine was a volunteer at Blue Valley Community Action. She also enjoyed being a St. Joseph's Villa quilter. Maxine was an active member of St. Francis and St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Ted Aerts; infant children, Mary Ann and Joseph; and nine siblings.
Survivors cherishing her memory include her children and spouses, Steve (Bev) Aerts, Omaha, Gary (Marilyn) Aerts, Malcolm, Glenda (Scott) Sloup, Seward, Charlene (Ron) Butterfield, Omaha, Karen (Terry) Aerts-Curtiss, Alliance, Darell (Theresa) Aerts, David City, Annette (Steve) Goll, Fayetteville, AR, Marilyn (Tom) Pribyl, Geneva; 34 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, David City, with Father Brian Connor and Father Leo Kosch con-celebrating the Mass. Graveside and Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, rural David City.
