It was another banner day in Coney Island as Miki Sudo won the Contest with 51 hot dogs consumed, breaking the all-time women's record (48.5) set by her in 2020.

With her record-breaking performance, Sudo further established herself as the GOAT of the women's contest. It was her 10th "Pink Belt" at Coney Island.

Going into the contest, the odds clearly pointed to Sudo. She was the runaway favorite on the women's side, with -1600 odds to win the competition. The 2023 runner up, Mayoi Ebihara, was at +700. No one else had better than +2000 odds to win on the women's side.

The Women's Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest separated from the men in 2011, marking the first time it happened since a one-off in 1975.

Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas won the first three women's belts before Sudo began her dominant reign. Sudo won every year from 2014 to 2023, sans the 2021 competition, won by Michelle Lesco.

In 2021, Sudo did not compete due to her pregnancy. But when she returned in 2022, she consumed 40 hot dogs, 9.25 more than Lesco's winning total the previous year.

While it was a great event nonetheless, this year's competition was overshadowed by the absence of Joey Chestnut, the perceived GOAT of eating.

Chestnut partnered with "Impossible Foods" and amid an apparent ban and dispute, he did not compete Thursday. Instead, he entered an alternate contest.

It was announced last month that Chestnut would not be competing in this year's Nathan's event sanctioned by Major League Eating (MLE) due to his partnership with Impossible Foods, a rival company which produces alternative-meat options.

Chestnut said at the time he was hopeful things would get worked out before the fourth , but clearly, that did not happen. The 16-time champion will not be defending his crown this year. In its statement, MLE said it went to "great lengths" to allow Chestnut to participate in the event.
