Mild weather today, but a shift coming this week
Today is expected to be another mild day, with a high around 65 expected in Fort Morgan. However, the National Weather Service's outlook for the coming week is far more active.
Multiple systems are expected to bring snow and cold air to the region, although not all of them to the far northeast plains.
"Sunday night into Monday morning, moderate snow amounts will fall across the higher terrain as well as the Palmer Divide. This will impact travel conditions, especially during the Monday morning commute, as roads will be snow-covered and icy. 1-3′′ of snow is expected across the Denver metro with higher amounts on the south side of Denver. This may have an impact on the Monday morning commute although it will be a more limited impact than the higher terrain," the NWS hazardous weather outlook states.
"A strong storm will likely arrive late Wednesday and into Thursday. This system will bring moderate to heavy snow to the higher terrain. There is more uncertainty with regards to snow across the plains but the possibility remains for heavy snow to fall during this period. The most likely outcome is a widespread light snow event with about a 20 percent chance that it turns into a snowstorm with heavy snow and major impacts. If the bigger snowstorm verifies, snow would occur on Friday and Saturday as well."
