Millersville leads at half, but loses to Bloomsburg in college football
Millersville allowed 20 points in the third quarter in falling 35-27 to Bloomsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East game on Saturday at Bloomsburg.
The Marauders (0-10, 0-7 PSAC), who have lost 17 straight, came back from a 14-0 deficit after one quarter to take a 16-14 halftime lead.
But the Huskies (6-4, 4-3) opened the second half with a 65-yard drive that ended when KJ Riley scored on a 15-yard run on third-and-15 to take a 21-16 lead.
On its first possession of the second half, Millersville turned it over on downs after being stopped on a fourth-and-1 from its 43. Riley completed the ensuing drive with a 1-yard TD run to make it 28-16.
After a three-and-out by the Marauders, Riley connected on a 68-yard touchdown pass to Jerry Griffen-Batchler to make in 35-16.
In the third quarter, Millersville rushed four times for minus-2 yards while Bloomsburg had 176 yards of offense.
The Marauders cut it to 35-19 on a 26-yard field goal by Trent McDowell early in the fourth quarter and made it 35-27 on Ryan Zeltt's 21-yard pass to Steven Graves III with 10 seconds left.
Bloomsburg recovered the ensuing kick.
Griffen-Batchler had six catches for 209 yards for the Huskies, including a 59-yard touchdown reception by Riley in the first quarter. Riley completed 13-of-22 passes for 321 yards and rushed 20 times for 87 yards and three TDs.
Hakim Melvin had nine catches for 130 yards for Millersville. Brady Russell had TD catches of 7 and 6 yards from Zeltt (32-for-48 for 285 yards and three TDs with one interception).
