Just over a month after finding itself on the New York Times' Restaurant List , Chef Yia Vang's Vinai has garnered more accolades.

Eater has placed the Northeast Minneapolis restaurant on its list of the best new restaurants in the country . (And just a couple of days after the chef's Union Hmong Kitchen was featured on the latest episode of Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives .)

Since opening this summer , Vinai has further cemented Vang's reputation as one of Minnesota's most exciting chefs and, as Eater says in its story, he's helped "define [the Twin Cities] as the capital of Hmong cuisine in the U.S."

"Using wood fire, Vang channels the way his ancestors cooked in high mountain villages," Eater editor Justine Jones says in the write-up. "In his ample use of narrative — confited mackerel represents the sardines his siblings snacked on after school; nourishing braised meat stews, or nqaij hau, are his mom's specialty — he tells his own story as a Hmong kid growing up in the States."

The story also calls out the Hilltribe chicken, which has become one of the restaurant's most-discussed dishes.

While it took years for the chef behind Union Hmong Kitchen to bring his fine dining establishment to fruition, it has clearly been worth the wait.
