Missing Fremont County K9 found deceased by deputy

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The Fremont County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) announced that K9 Watson, the Law Enforcement narcotics detection K9 that went missing on Oct. 1st, was found deceased.

According to the FCSO, K9 Watson was found on the side of roadway Highway 9 on Friday, Oct. 4th by Deputy Holmes, his "best friend and handler".

After K9 Watson was transported to a veterinary clinic by members of the FCSO and the Colorado State Patrol, a veterinarian determined that he had suffered from trauma induced by a motor vehicle.

Currently, services for K9 Watson are being arranged for a later date.
