Palm Beach County Fire Rescue battles 'stubborn' Wellington blaze

WELLINGTON, Fla. (CBS12) — Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) battled a on Wednesday.

PBCFR says the fire occurred in Wellington on Meadowbreeze Drive at around 12 p.m. Firefighters say they saw a large cloud of smoke even before arriving.

Upon arrival, crews learned the fire began in the garage and spread throughout the attic space.

PBCFR says it took one hour to bring the fire under control. No people or pets were injured as a result of the fire.

$4.3 million in cocaine seized, 2 U.S. citizens taken into custody in Puerto Rico

MAYAGUEZ, PR (CBS12) — Over were transferred to special agents on Sunday in Puerto Rico.

The U.S. Coast Guard said its crews intercepted the two smugglers in international waters navigating towards Rincón, Puerto Rico. Once alongside the suspected smuggling boat, crews found 142 brick-sized packages of suspected contraband, which later tested positive for cocaine.

The 388 pounds of cocaine is worth an estimated $4.3 million, according to the USCG.

As for the two smugglers, who are also U.S. citizens, they will face federal prosecution in Puerto Rico for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance aboard a vessel subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. The two could face a minimum sentence of 10 years imprisonment and a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Hazardous material crash closes all lanes on I-95 in St. Lucie County

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — closed all lanes on Tuesday on I-95 North in St. Lucie County.

According to Florida 511, the crash occurred by exit 138 near Indrio Road.

Photos taken at the scene show multiple trucks responding and a heavy build-up of traffic.

Florida 511 didn't specify what the hazardous material could be. It is not disclosed whether there are injuries.

BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — Hailing an Uber might not be the best way to run from police. Two of the three Broward County teens arrested early Monday morning learned that the hard way.

The trio were arrested after a Boca Raton woman spotted people in her fenced backyard in Colonnade wearing masks, the Boca Raton Police Services Department explained. They took off running as soon as residents there confronted them.

When officers arrived, they reported finding one of the suspects hiding in the bushes. The other two teens, however, allegedly decided to let Uber be their getaway driver.

All three were tracked down with the assistance of the police department's K9 and Drone Units, along with an assist from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office's helicopter.

Vero Beach police searching for suspects in overnight burglary

VERO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The Vero Beach Police Department (VBPD) is asking for help identifying two people wanted in connection with an .

The police department posted two images of the pair just hours after the incident happened Friday morning. One picture offers a clear shot of one of the individuals, while the other shows both of them standing next to a car.

According to its post, cameras recorded a silver Kia Optima heading west on 21st Street (U.S. 1) shortly before 3:30 a.m. and pulled into the parking lot for Cash Pawn & Jewelry at 854 21st Street.

Eight minutes later, the sedan left the area, headed west on 21st Street.

The VBPD post warned that people should be careful if they make contact with either of the individuals because they could be armed.
