Missouri River levels reached their crest in Omaha Saturday morning

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - As of Saturday morning the Missouri river in Omaha reached a peak of 32.79′ and is no longer expected to rise to the previous forecast level over 33′. The river will say near this level into early Sunday and then start a gradual decline. The river will be back below flood level by Tuesday night.

The Saturday night updates show water levels on the Missouri River continue to rise at a slow pace for areas downstream of Omaha. Many areas will continue to see levels staying well above flood stage for the remainder of the week and into the weekend.

As water levels decline in Omaha and areas upstream we will monitor the current closures of I-29 and I-680 .

As of Friday morning, Blair reached its peak by getting just above 32 feet. The river level at Blair has already dropped over 1.5′ since then and will continue to improve. The Missouri River at Blair is expected to drop below flood stage by Monday evening.

The Missouri River at Plattsmouth remains at a minor flooding stage, although it is within only a few inches of the moderate stage as it approaches 32 feet. It's still forecasted to rise to 32 feet and crest of Sunday afternoon. The river will start lowering from there and dip below flood levels by Wednesday afternoon.
