MLB fans witnessed an eye-opening record during the NLCS Game 4 between the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dodgers saw one of their star players tying a 46-year record during the team's 10-2 win over the Mets on Thursday night at Citi Field in Flushing, New York.

Dodgers infielder Max Muncy set an MLB postseason record when he reached base for the 12th consecutive plate appearance.

He broke the previous record of 10 with a fifth-inning walk and then achieved his mark of 12 thanks to a seventh-inning single.

Muncy then struck out in the eighth inning.

The two-time All-Star Muncy tied MLB legend Reggie Jackson's achievement.

The Hall of Famer reached on-base 12 straight times over two postseasons in 1977 and 1978.

As a member of the New York Yankees , Jackson hit three homers in Game 6 of the 1977 World Series.

"It's one of those things where I feel like I'm staying within myself and not trying to do anything too extraordinary," Muncy said, per ESPN .

"It's allowed me to see the ball better and slow things down."

Muncy got on base four times on Thursday.

He has a .296 batting average along with an outstanding .486 on-base percentage this postseason.

An everyday player for the Dodgers since 2018, Muncy's home run in Game 3 was the 13th of his playoff career.

He sat out 80 games in the regular season due to an oblique strain.

Muncy wasn't the only dominant Dodgers performer in Game 4 as Mookie Betts went 4-for-6 with a home run and four RBIs and Shohei Ohtani hit a leadoff home run and walked three times.

The Dodgers have a 3-1 series lead over the Mets and are one win away from advancing to the World Series.

Each of the Dodgers' wins has come by at least eight runs.

For Game 5, the Dodgers will trot out starting pitcher Jack Flaherty to the mound.

The Mets, meanwhile, will hand the ball to left-hander David Peterson.

Flaherty threw seven scoreless innings in the team's Game 1 victory in Los Angeles.

Game 5 will take place on Friday at 5:08 pm Eastern on FS1.
