Monterey County bar shooting leaves two dead

PAJARO — A barroom shooting led to the deaths of two people in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Agencies including the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, Watsonville Police Department and California Highway Patrol responded to the reported shooting shortly after 1 a.m. at the El Torero Bar at 540 Salinas Road.

At the scene, police found a man, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Three women also had been injured in the shooting and were taken to an area trauma center for care. There, one of the women died of her injuries.

Authorities did not release any details related to a possible motivation in the shooting, what if any association the four shooting victims had with each other, the condition of the two shooting-injured women or a possible suspected shooter description. Related Articles
