More pain on Dodge: Eastbound lane in central Omaha closed near UNO, Dundee

Dodge Street commuters got more bad news Tuesday with the announcement of two new eastbound lane closures, one near the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the other in Dundee.

An inside lane is closed at 69th Street for concrete repairs to the curb and an auxiliary lane, said Austin Rowser, Omaha's deputy public works director. It is scheduled to be closed until Saturday.

The closure is a block west of the west entrance to UNO, near the Office Max store. During Tuesday morning's commute, eastbound traffic on Dodge backed up toward 72nd Street, one of the city's busiest intersections.

A water-main break Tuesday forced the other closure in the eastbound curb lane on Dodge between 49th Avenue and 49th Street in Dundee. The closure, scheduled to last until Oct. 24, will allow repairs to the Metropolitan Utilities District water main, and to the street itself.

Just last week, the city announced a lane closure on eastbound Dodge between 46th and 48th Street until Aug. 1, 2025, to accommodate construction of an apartment complex on an adjacent property. The same lane is closed between 46th Street and Saddle Creek Road until the end of this year because of separate building project.

Omaha Public Works also announced several other lane and road closures Tuesday:

  • South 38th Avenue between Mason Street and Marcy Street will be closed to through traffic for sewer repair until Oct. 27.
  • South 90th Street between Woolworth Avenue/William Street and Hickory Street will be restricted to one lane in each direction for sewer repair in the southbound lanes until Oct. 25.
  • North 108th Street between Larimore Avenue and Fowler Avenue will be restricted to one lane southbound for street repair in the outside curb lane until Friday.
