More Snow In Metro Detroit: MI Winter Storm
METRO DETROIT — Some areas of metro Detroit can see up to 2 inches of fresh snow as widespread snow showers linger in the area throughout Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters warned parts of the metro Detroit area can see quick blasts of snow squalls, which may rapidity reduce visibility and quickly accumulate on roadways, according to the National Weather Service.
Drivers should expect slippery road conditions during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commute, especially in areas between the Interstate 69 and Interstate 94 corridors, where forecasters expect the heaviest snow to fall, according to the National Weather Service.
The snow showers in the metro Detroit area should fade away sometime Tuesday morning when temperatures drop in the low 20s with wind chills in the single digits, according to the National Weather Service.
The massive snowstorm has hammered other parts of Michigan, especially the Upper Peninsula where forecasters expect another several inches of fresh snow through Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Areas around Munising, Newberry and Grand Marais could see an additional 6 to 8 inches through Monday night, pushing total snowfall amounts to nearly a foot, according to the National Weather Service.
Winter storms warnings were still in effect for areas around Munising, Grand Marais, Newberry and Ironwood through 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Parts of northern Michigan, particularly in the Gaylord area, are expected to see another 3 to 4 inches of fresh snow, with local amounts pushing 6 inches through Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
