More than 9,000 FirstEnergy customers without power

(WJW) — More than 9,000 FirstEnergy customers in Northeast Ohio are currently without power .

That's down from the about 16,000 outages reported earlier in the afternoon and the 14,000 outages reported an hour ago on the utility's website .

The outages on Thursday, Oct. 17, are currently affecting more than 7,500 customers in Cuyahoga County and nearly 2,500 in Lake County .

In Cuyahoga County, nearly all the outages are in Euclid.

In Lake County, most of the persisting outages are Wickliffe and Willowick. Thousands of outages in Eastlake, Willoughby and Willoughby Hills appear to have been resolved, according to the utility's website.

There is currently no estimated time for service restoration.
