Morgan Wallen sets new Neyland Stadium attendance record

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A pair of sold-out concerts at Neyland Stadium by East Tennessee native Morgan Wallen have broken a record held by The Jackson 5 for 40 years.

His two shows on Friday, September 20 and Sunday, September 22 set a new record for the largest concert weekend at Neyland Stadium . A total of 156,161 people attended the shows, breaking the record held by The Jackson 5 across three shows in 1984 (148,407). During the shows, Wallen brought on several guests including Miranda Lambert, HARDY, Eric Church, Darius Rucker, and ERNEST.

"When me and the boys first started playing shows, we started out playing bars, real small venues. Worked our way up to places like Cotton Eyed Joe. Then we worked our way up to clubs, theaters, arenas and amphitheaters – we pretty much played any kind of venue there is, and all of a sudden you guys went and sold out Neyland today. Thank you," Wallen said during the concert.

The show also highlights several of UT's sports stars with Wallen walking out with the 2024 National Champion Tennessee Volunteers baseball team and Coach Tony Vitello on Friday. Sunday saw him accompanied by Peyton Manning in his retired college uniform, head football coach Josh Heupel , quarterback Nico Iamaleava and wide receiver Bru McCoy.

Ahead of the shows, Morgan showed some love to his hometown by donating $140,000 to Gibbs Youth Sports .
