University of Mary alumnus Nathan Stamstad earned his first marathon win, topping the Bismarck Marathon standings in a time of 2:53.15 a year after taking fourth with a time of 2:55.11. Bernie Belzer won her third women's title, finishing ninth overall with a time of 3:25.44.
Mandan finished a strong third at the Fargo North girls swimming invitational, scoring 426 points as a team to finish 104 points behind Minot and 77 back of the host Spartans. The Braves had four event wins, topping the 200 medley relay with a team of Steffany Bachmeier, Char Binstock, Linzey Bachmeier and Christina Taylor and scoring pair of individual wins from Linzey Bachmeier in the 50 free and 100 fly. Diver Kati Hopfauf topped the event with 355.10 points for Mandan.
): A previously winless Hazelton football team earned a homecoming victory over Steele 34-32 behind the combined efforts of Dwight and Wes Baker. Wes threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Dwight on 4th-and-16 that evened the score at 32-all. Wes then ran in the two-point conversion on a run around the right end. Russ Weiser ended Steele's hopes with an interception.
