There's a surprising defensive star in the making for the Philadelphia Eagles.

And it's not one of their many young defensive stalwarts at corner or along the edge.

Moro Ojomo was drafted in the seventh-round of the 2023 draft in the hopes he would be a project of sorts out of Texas. During his two year run with the team, he's only recorded half a sack but has greatly improved from his rookie season.

It's why, under Vic Fangio's tutelage, the Eagles have seen vast improvement from the 23-year-old defensive tackle.

"He's a guy that's made a good improvement from the start," Fangio said. "Works extremely hard on the practice field and in the meetings, and it's been paying off. He's got some good athletic ability."

When he was drafted in Philadelphia, Ojomo already joined the likes of Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis. Compared to the two, the Texas product was seen as undersized and hard to tell if a role would be available.

Through the start of the 2024 season, though, he's carving out a role for himself quite well.

"He's on the small side as D-Linemen go, but he does come with the quickness and speed that you would hope a smaller guy would have," Fangio said. "And he plays really hard, and he's done a nice job, and he's earned his playing time."
